Which Road Glide fits you
The base Road Glide is the lighter, simpler touring bike: batwing-free fairing, saddlebags, and a solo-focused setup that still handles two-up weekends. The Road Glide Special adds the larger infotainment screen, upgraded suspension on later years, and blacked-out or bright trim depending on the build. The Road Glide Limited is the full-dress version with a Tour-Pak, heated grips on most examples, and the touring-oriented seat. If you mostly ride Southern Indiana backroads with the occasional long haul, a Special covers it. If you load up for multi-state trips, look at a Limited.
Milwaukee-Eight years matter
From 2017 on, Road Glides run the Milwaukee-Eight 107 or 114. The M8 runs cooler at idle, pulls harder off the bottom, and vibrates less at highway speed than the Twin Cam it replaced. 2020 and newer Specials got the 114 standard. Most of the units below are M8 bikes, and the listing for each one shows the exact engine and year.
What to check on a used Road Glide
- Fairing and inner fairing for cracks around mounting points
- Infotainment screen function, speaker output, and software version
- Rear shock preload adjuster and fork seals
- Saddlebag latches and lid alignment
- Service records for oil, primary and transmission fluid
Our shop goes through each of these before a bike is listed, and the photos show the bike as it sits. You can also browse the rest of our used Harleys or the full inventory if you want to compare against a Street Glide or Ultra.
Why used touring Harleys are the value play
Touring Harleys take the biggest step down from new pricing in the first few years, while the chassis and M8 engine are built for six-figure mileage. A three-year-old Road Glide Special with under 10,000 miles costs thousands less than new, with the break-in done and most factory updates applied. That is the sweet spot the units below sit in.
